About

Once upon a time (aka, when I was in Grade Two), I wrote a story.  I also illustrated it.  When I’d finished, I thought to myself: I’d like to do that again.  So I did, although I’m pretty sure I left the illustrating component out of most of my subsequent stories.

I’d like to say I haven’t stopped writing since then, but that would fly in the face of a significant portfolio of procrastinating skills.  One day, I’d like to write something amazing that everybody wants to read; unfortunately, that day always seems to be tomorrow.

Several years after the writing revelation, my dad gave me his Pentax camera and I rather fell in love with photography.  The relationship cooled a little during the digital years, but it came back with a vengeance when I got my hands on my first digital SLR (a Canon 1000D that came as a freebie with a laptop).  I wonder if I’m in love with photography or just the sound a real shutter makes.

So this is me: I live in a suburb of Melbourne with The Chef and two cats, my camera (now a 60D with a growing collection of lenses) and a small orchestra of instruments (piano, flute and a violin I’ve just begun to learn).  I work in a school library where I make pretty things and have long discussions with students about books.  This situation is made of several kinds of win.

I love roadtripping with The Chef and roadtripping with the Failboats (aka the most awesome friends a person could wish for).  Often, the roadtripping involves taking photos of abandoned places, which is high up on my list of Awesome Things To Do.

I also like cheese.

Please enjoy reading along.
